The city of Scott has been recognized for its efforts to bring new businesses into the city.
Scott was awarded first place in Economic Development for a small city by the Louisiana Municipal Association.
The organization judged cities on a number of categories including industrial development, businesses, tourism and workforce development.
Mayor Purvis Morrison says the city added 200 jobs within the last year.
He believes the award shows that the city is aggressively bringing in new business.
“We are moving in the right direction because of the great people we have in our community that see the opportunity to invest especially with us being on I-10.” said Mayor Morrison.
To bring in even more jobs to the area, the city is focused on extending Apollo Rd which is set to begin towards the end of the year.
