One Morgan City man is in custody and another has warrant out for his arrest after a Monday afternoon shooting incident has left one Lafayette man dead and another in critical condition.

Quentin J. Cooper of Morgan City was arrested for Principal to First Degree Murder.

Lafayette Police have also issued an arrest warrant for Lawrence Lynel Blackburn (37) for 1st Degree Murder in connection with the shooting on Sunnyside Lane.

Police say they are still searching of the motive behind the shooting.

“We believe that the two suspects had knowledge of the victims before this incident occurred.” said Corporal Paul Mouton of the Lafayette Police Dept.

“So there was some type of meeting or some type of acquaintance involved in there before any of the actual shooting.”

“ Now reason behind the disturbance and reason behind why the pulled out guns and started shooting at the victims is still under investigation.”

The deceased victim is identified as Dravin Stevenson (18) of Lafayette.

The second victim remains hospitalized in critical condition.
