Tuesday night, Monroe City Council addressed a new brewery expected to come to Monroe. Council members approved the company’s permit request.
“Flying Tiger Brewery” will produce fermented malt beverages on site and will include a tasting room for customers to taste samples of the products.
Up to 15,000 barrels can be manufactured per year.
Owners Robert Brewer and James Simpson say it could increase sales tax revenue, offer more jobs, and attract tourists.
“The next step is going to be we’re going to finalize the financing part of the deal and then put the orders in for the equipment and begin lease hold improvements to the property,” says Robert Brewer/ Co-Owner.
“We are fully committed to a full scale brewery. We are going in opening our doors with a 15 barrell system which will give us the capability to produce a tremendous amount from the day we open our doors. Fully keg beers, fully bottling, or canning beer,” says James Simpson/ Co-Owner.
Flying Tiger Brewery is expected to be in the downtown area.
Brewer and Simpson say it will be opened in the next six months.
