The mother of the accused killed of a Shreveport Police officer speaks to NBC 6/Fox 33.  Ramona Cannon says she feels bad for the officer’s family and admits her son has lived a troubled life.

Her son 27 year old Grover Cannon sent law enforcement on a multi- agency manhunt, following the fatal shooting of Shreveport police officer Thomas LaValley.

Ramona says, “Even though I’m glad they caught him and they didn’t have to go through no shooting, it isn’t over.”

Grover  has been in and out of jail since the age of 17.  At the time of his arrest he was also wanted for the attempted murder of a Shreveport man.

The gunman’s mother believes her son was fortunate he was captured alive.  Ramona says she can’t understand her son’s actions, but believes he changed after the death of his grandmother and following the murder of his older brother .

“I don’t know what state of mind he was in, but since the last time he got out of jail it was like he was in a disturbed state of depression.”
