Missing Vernon Parish woman and son found dead; fiancé charged with murder

The fiancé of a missing Vernon Parish woman is facing murder charges after she was found dead.

Vernon Parish Sheriff’s Deputies found the bodies of Misty Marshall and her son Day-Min on Thursday.

They had been reported missing on December 4.

The body of Marshall was found in a wooded area off LA 112 near New Llano. The body of her son was found near the residence where he was living with his family.

Matthew Dotson is only charged with one count of first degree murder.

Marshall’s two other children were also reported missing, but they were found a few days later.

Dotson’s bond is set at $2 million and is being held at the Vernon Parish Jail.
