Governor Bobby Jindal has issued a state of emergency.

The emergency has been issued due to the imminent threat of flooding along the Mississippi River, Red River and other state bodies of water.

Governor Jindal is holding a Unified Command Group (UCG) meeting at the Governor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness (GOHSEP) this afternoon.

Governor-elect John Bel Edwards will also be attending the UCG meeting to ensure that the incoming administration is fully up-to-date in the event of flooding conditions after January 11.

Updates on potential flooding conditions will be released after the meeting.
