Fort Polk Soldier dies in incident

A Soldier from the 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division (LI), was killed Sunday, Aug. 23.  Spc. Devin Lee Olmos was pronounced dead after being struck by a vehicle while crossing the road in the early morning hours in Lake Charles, Louisiana.

The incident is currently under investigation by the Louisiana State Police and the Army Criminal Investigation Division.

“Specialist Olmos made a huge difference in the short time he was here,” said Col. Guy Jones, 3/10 BCT commander. “He was well liked by those that worked with him. The entire Patriot Brigade is saddened by his loss.  Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends.”

Olmos was a medic for 710th Brigade Support Battalion at Fort Polk.
