The Lake Charles/Southwest Louisiana Convention & Visitors Bureau will be providing complimentary customer service training opportunities by Rita Suiter on Tuesday, Nov. 10.  Suiter, known as an “edu-tainer,” is the owner/coach of FiveStar Customer Service Strategies with a diverse background in the service industry.

Attractions, hotels, restaurants, event center personnel, community volunteers, the local arts community and people in the hospitality community are invited to participate to better serve customers.

A morning session entitled “Putting Service Back in Customer Service” will be held from 10 a.m. – noon at the West Cal Arena & Events Center, 2900 Ruth St., in Sulphur.  Key learning objectives include the expectations of customers, creating ‘concierge service’ with your products and services, customer service basics and brand-building.

The afternoon session, “Delivering Sensational Service,” will be held from 2-4 p.m. at Treasures of Marilyn’s, 3510 5th Ave., in Lake Charles.  This workshop is a wakeup call to ignite a contagious spirit within your team to elevate the customer experience.

The evening session, “Volunteers…You Make Us Shine,” will be held from 6-8 p.m. at Treasures of Marilyn’s, 3510 5th Ave., in Lake Charles with a light dinner included.  Attendees will learn to fine-tune their service skills. 

“While the brand new customer service program is aimed at the hospitality industry, we wanted to offer a special seminar geared toward our local volunteers this year.  Volunteers are crucial to many of the sporting events, local fundraisers, festivals, arts community and the hospitality industry.  The evening session on Monday, Nov.10 will teach practical techniques to area volunteers as they set the stage for powerful impressions on Southwest Louisiana for visitors and event attendees,” said Megan Hartman, senior marketing manager for the Lake Charles/Southwest Louisiana Convention & Visitors Bureau.

All sessions are designed for both frontline and management.  Participants should register by November 2 for the specific seminar of their choice (or all three) at or by calling 337-436-9588.
