Community Development Works, a program of The Rapides Foundation, is offering skill-building training for Cenla residents and nonprofits. All workshops and webinars are available free of charge. Webinars are one hour long and can be accessed from most devices using the GoToWebinar app. Workshops take place at The Rapides Foundation Building, 1101 Fourth St., Alexandria.

During the fall training schedule, The Rapides Foundation is partnering with a national thought leader and advisor, the Nonprofit Risk Management Center, to offer a webinar series on risk management for nonprofits.
The following trainings are being offered in September:
• Start-up for Nonprofits workshop: To Be or Not To Be a 501(c)(3) with CDW staff member Felicia Walker, Tuesday, September 1, from 9 a.m. to noon. Receive an overview on how to start a nonprofit organization, including how to file with the Secretary of State’s office and IRS.
• Risk Management Series: a two-part webinar series on planning for risk with the Nonprofit Risk Management Center
Webinar: Top Ten Legal Risks Facing Nonprofits, Wednesday, September 2, from 11 a.m. to noon. Get tips on how your nonprofit can steer clear of legal liabilities and overlooked risks.
Webinar: Getting Ready for the Auditor: Auditing Committee and Risk Management, Thursday, September 10, from 11 a.m. to noon. Gain insight on how to develop the audit committee to effectively implement sound financial practices for your nonprofit.
• Grant Writing workshop: Introduction to Finding Funders with CDW staff member Felicia Walker, Tuesday, September 15, from 9-11 a.m. Find the latest information on grant making programs from funders across the country with the Foundation Center’s comprehensive funding research tool.
• Fund Development Series: a two-part series on raising funds for your nonprofit with Trainer/Consultant Emily DiStefano
Webinar: Capital Campaigns, Thursday, September 17, from 11 a.m. to noon. Obtain tools to help build a donor base and operate a successful campaign to fund your capital projects.
Workshop: 10 Steps to Developing an Annual Giving Campaign, Thursday, September 24, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Provides a step by step process for planning and implementing a donor-focused campaign.
