Earlier today, a crash involving two vehicles killed a woman from Campti.
Troopers responded to the crash around 7:30 A.M., which occurred on LA Hwy 486 west of LA Hwy 6. The crash involved a 2000 Jeep, driven by Patrick R. Johnson, 48 years old of Natchitoches, and a 2015 Kia, driven by Iva M. Curtis, who was 76 years old. The Jeep was eastbound on LA Hwy 486 when Johnson lost control and crossed the centerline. After crossing the centerline, the Jeep collided with the westbound Kia.
Johnson was wearing his seat belt and received moderate injuries. He was transported to Natchitoches Regional Medical Center.
Curtis was wearing her seat belt, but was pronounced dead at Natchitoches Regional Medical Center.
Routine toxicology tests and charges are pending. The crash remains under investigation.
