APD makes arrest in Alexandria shooting case

At 10:00 a.m. on the morning of Saturday July 25, 2015, Alexandria Police responded to a residence in the 1900 Block of Mason Street in reference to a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located a male subject that had been shot. Medical personal arrived and transported the victim to a local hospital. APD Detectives and Crime Scene were called out initiated the investigation.

APD Officers arrested Gerald Powell, 44 of Lena, at the scene and transported him to the Rapides Parish Detention Center where he was booked on:

1 Count – Attempted Second Degree Murder.

The investigation has determined the victim was shot by Powell during an altercating.

The victim’s condition has been categorized as serious.
