APD arrests second Alexandria suspect in burglary case

On April 17, 2015, Alexandria Police received a report of a residential burglary in the 100 Block of Mary Street. Several electronic items were taken. The complainant reported his residence was again broken into on April 18, 2015.

APD Officers were able to develop a person of interest after located the items taken at a nearby residence. APD Detectives were called in to assist. The resulting investigation by Detectives connected the person of interest, identified as Darrin Simon to the Mary Street burglaries. A warrant was issued for the arrest of Simon on June 5, 2015 for 2 Counts – Simple Burglary.

On June 11, 2015, Detectives arrested Simon without incident. Information gained at the time of the arrest resulted in Detectives charging Simon with three additional counts of burglary that occurred over the past several months in the Tennessee and North Bolton Avenue area. Darrin Simon, 26 of Alexandria was booked into the Rapides Parish Detention Center on:

5 Counts – Simple Burglary.

This investigation is ongoing and no other details are being released at this time.

UPDATE: Continued investigation by Detectives resulted in Dwaun A. Thomas being identified as a second suspect who participated in two of the above referenced burglaries. A warrant of arrest was issued for Thomas who was taken into custody without incident on June 29, 2015 during a routine traffic stop by APD Officers. Dwaun and transported to the Rapides Parish Detention Center where he was booked on: 2 Counts -Simple Burglary.
