Agents with the Louisiana Office of Alcohol and Tobacco Control (ATC) arrested an Alexandria businessman found to be selling alcohol and tobacco without valid state and local permits. The violations were found during a routine inspection of the business “Da City”, located at 3007 Lee Street in Alexandria.
ATC Agents discovered that the business was purchased by Mo Town of Alexandria Inc. in September of 2015; however, the new owner never obtained the required alcohol and/or tobacco permits.
“Operating without state alcohol and tobacco permits is a criminal offense in Louisiana,” said ATC Commissioner Troy Hebert.
With the help of the Alexandria Police Department, the owner, Mohamad I. Zeidan, was arrested and transported to Rapides Parish jail. Zeidan was booked on 83 counts of each of the following charges:
• Operating Without a State Alcohol Permit (High Content Alcohol)
• Operating Without a State Alcohol Permit (Low Content Alcohol)
• Operating Without a State Tobacco Permit.
Additional administrative charges are pending in this case.
