Attorney General Buddy Caldwell’s office has partnered with the Louisiana Bar Foundation and several other organizations, to bring a series of free workshops on mortgages and personal finance to Louisiana consumers.
The statewide financial education tour kicked off in April and continues this month with meetings in New Orleans and Alexandria. The tour has already stopped in Amite, Baker, Baton Rouge, Carencro, Covington, Gray, Lafayette, Lake Charles, Monroe, and Shreveport.
Attorney General Caldwell partnered with the Louisiana Bar Foundation, Louisiana Appleseed, Louisiana Legal Services, and the Louisiana Civil Justice Center to offer “LMAP: Getting Your House in Order.”
Caldwell said this initiative is part of an effort to highlight the importance of making wise financial decisions and to provide mortgage and financial information to homeowners and potential homeowners.
“Experts from the legal field offer education on first-time home buying, refinancing, reverse mortgages, and other financial matters along the various tour stops,” Attorney General Caldwell said.
The Louisiana Mortgage Assistance Program, or LMAP, was established by Attorney General Caldwell to provide financial information and counseling on foreclosure prevention, wrongful foreclosure, loan modification, principal reduction, refinancing, and related services.
The workshops are free and open to the public. For more information, contact Antoinette Bell in the Attorney General’s Consumer Protection Section at (800) 351-4889 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
