The 10th Annual Bayou Classic Christian Fellowship of Southwest Louisiana (BCCF of SWLA) will be held on Saturday – Sunday, Nov. 21-22, 2015 at Zion Tabernacle Baptist Church (ZTBC), 910 North Shattuck St. The purpose of the event is to further the gospel of Jesus Christ and assist youth and young adults in making career and educational choices.
The event will kick off with a parade on Saturday, Nov. 21 at 11 a.m. The parade will start at the east side of the MLK Jr. Community Center, 2009 Simmons, and will proceed south on Simmons to Moeling St., west on Moeling to Prater, south on Prater to Opelousas, west on Opelousas to Shattuck, north on Shattuck ending at the ZTBC campus. Participants in the parade will include Grand Marshals representing Grambling State University and Southern University, high school marching bands and other organizations. Float entry fee is $5 and the deadline to register is Monday, Nov. 16. All floats must be decorated and only gospel or patriotic music should be played. Awards will be presented for the best decorated float and the runner-up.
Immediately following the parade will be a career/college fair with Grambling State University, McNeese State University, Southern University and other universities from Texas and Louisiana. Military recruiters, organizations and businesses will also be present at the fair. Free food will be available, along with a variety of vendor booths, a performing arts stage, a kid’s zone, tae kwon do demonstrations, health fair, free Bibles and other gospel literature.
On Sunday, Nov. 22, Grambling State University and Southern University alumni will teach Sunday school classes at 9:30 a.m., followed by an 11 a.m. worship service with a prominent Grambling alumnus as the speaker.
Zion Tabernacle Baptist Church Reverend Edward L. Jordan said, “This is really a fun event and has proven to be very beneficial for the community – especially the youth and young adults.”
The deadline to order t-shirts for the event is Monday, Nov. 2. The deadline to purchase an ad in the souvenir book is Friday, Nov. 6. All proceeds will benefit the BCCF of SWLA Scholarship Fund and help defray event expenses. Please make checks payable to ZTBC.
