The fifth named storm of the Atlantic hurricane season was classified today in the western Caribbean about 200 miles south of the Grand Cayman Islands.
Tropical Storm Earl continues to gain strength tonight as it moves towards the west at 16 miles per hour towards the Mexican Yucatan Peninsula and Belize. Maximum sustained winds are currently 60 miles per hour.
The National Hurricane Center expects Earl to intensify into a hurricane before making landfall along the coast of Belize Wednesday night. All interests in the Yucatan and Belize should closely monitor the latest progress of Earl. W
e are NOT expecting any major impacts from Earl! A minor increase in swells possible in coastal waters of the Gulf of Mexico over the next several days.
