According to the Rapides Parish Office of Emergency Preparedness, the control structure at Bayou Darrow in Grant Parish has been breached. Grant Parish Sheriff Steven McCain along with officials from the Louisiana National Guard are on scene evaluating the damage and working on a temporary solution of plugging the breach.
Where Rapides Parish is concerned, the water will flow into the Rigollette area and possibly cause severe flooding with the rise of the Red River also occurring.
Residents in the Rigollette area are urged to be aware and exercise extreme caution with regards to the rising water. Special consideration should be given to any residents with special needs, as homes and camps could be in danger. Livestock and other animals should be considered as well.
Anyone needing temporary shelter are asked to call the Rapides Parish Office of Emergency Preparedness at 318-445-0391. This is a voicemail that will be monitored. Please leave your name, address and a phone number you may be reached at 24/7.
Again, extreme caution is urged and prior planning should be made in the event of a flood event.
