Governor’s race starting to heat up

Local News

With only weeks until election day, the one race that all Louisiana residents are keeping a close eye on is the governor’s race.

Senator David Vitter has long been the favorite going into the election, but which candidates are possibly making a push?

We spoke with UL’s political science professor Dr.Pearson Cross who says, one candidate form the Acadiana area has a chance to make some noise come election day versus Vitter.

“Vitter is still probably out a head a little bit, but everyone believes that Angelle will make the runoff based on Democratic status.” said Dr. Cross.

“Scott Angelle seems to be pulling up, but it is unclear if he will catch Vitter or if Dardenne makes a late move. People continue to talk about Scott Angelle’s candidacy and if he has the legs to get up where Senator Vitter is at.”

Dr.Cross says that as the elections get closer you can expect to see the candidates poll numbers fluctuate more than they have in the last few months.

With only weeks to go and candidate starting to gain more steam, political experts expect October’s election to set the groundwork for a and expected governor’s race runoff.
