Louisiana State Police are investigating a Monday afternoon accident in which an East Texas man was killed.
Around 3:00 p.m., troopers responded to Interstate 49, in Natchitoches, south of Highway 485, in reference to a crash.
The wreck involved a Honda, driven by Deytwan Demetrius, 18, of Fort Polk, Louisiana, and a Toyota, driven by Jabe Maddox, 39, of Longview,
Police say Demetrius was headed southbound on I-49 when he lost control and entered the median that separates the southbound lanes from the northbound lanes. He continued through the median and entered the northbound lanes of I-49, where he collided with the Maddox.
Demetrius and his only passenger, identified as Trevon Lewis, 18, of Leesville, Louisiana, received minor injuries and were taken to a Natchitoches hospital. Maddox was pronounced dead at the scene.
Routine toxicology tests and charges are pending.
All involved were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.
