More than 100 contestants made the trip to Shreveport-Bossier for the Miss USA contest.
Their respective families made that trip as well.
“It means so much to me because my daughter has worked so hard to be here, physically, mentally,” said Angela Wright, the mother of Miss Delaware. “This has been her passion since she was a little girl.”
One contestant’s friend said the support helps contestants enjoy the lifetime experience that much more.
“To them, this is their national moment. If you can come here and experience it with them and share in the joy,” said friend of Miss District of Columbia Hekima Qualls.
