Hurricane warnings issued along Louisiana coast

Little impact from Tropical Storm Nate expected for ArkLaTex

SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL) - The National Hurricane Center has issued a Hurricane Warnings from Grand Isle, Louisiana eastward to the Alabama/Florida border due to Tropical Storm Nate.

Nate is expected to make landfall late Saturday or early Sunday morning at a Category 1 Hurricane.

Tropical Storm Nate is already being blamed for at least 22 deaths in Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Honduras.

Chief Meteorologist Todd Warren says Tropical Storm Nate is expected to have little impact to the ArkLatex. 

Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards has declared a state of emergency and will ask President Trump to issue a pre-landfall declaration of emergency for the state. 

Edwards has also mobilized 1,300 National Guard troops.
